The most underrated skill in digital transformation? Having tough conversations early.
It’s easy to celebrate new platforms, AI and automation.
It’s much harder to ask the uncomfortable questions at the start:
- Do we really need this process?
- Are we prepared for the cultural shift, not just the technical one?
- Who owns the outcome when things go wrong?
Avoiding these discussions doesn’t make the problems disappear. It only delays them until they’re harder and costlier to solve.
Every transformation I’ve seen succeed had one thing in common: leaders who weren’t afraid to put the “elephants in the room” on the table.
Because clarity early means fewer surprises later.
Transformation is less about shiny tools and more about honest dialogue.
Tough conversations don’t slow change.
They accelerate trust.
